I have to write this down so I remember where it came from. A couple of evenings ago we had run some errands. Kate managed to stub her toe a few times and was frustrated about it. So in the usual slightly twisted humor Daddy said "Well, I guess we'll have to amputate." Daddy: "Girls, when we get home you're going to need to help put away the shopping and then get things ready so we can amputate Kate's foot for her." Kate: {eye roll and partially hidden smile} Lizzie {totally blase}: "Okay, I'll get the saw." Sabrina {normal chipper tone}: "I'll get the bucket." Me: "What's the bucket for?" Sabrina {matter of factly, looking out the van window at some horses}: "For the blood". Me: "How very... sanitary." Note: In the end we decided to cancel the amputation. Kate thought it my have been an extreme reaction to a stubbed toe. Besides, we didn't have a suitable bucket. The suggestion to "get a bucket" in our house now refers to an extreme reaction to something obnoxious. via Facebook
