Last night and today have been really rough. Pierre, who was so handsome in that picture I took just yesterday, passed away last night. Both kittens ate better (on two separate types of food, of course, because cats.) but Pierre started to act kinda "off". An hour later he seemed extra lazy / tired, but we hoped it was just from eating the best sized meal yet. We saw both kittens use the litter box and get a drink of water. I checked on them again two hours later and he was gone. It's been really hard for all of us, but especially Nikola, of course. We took him in for fluids in the middle of the night and are giving him sub-q fluids in addition to his frequent feedings. We're praying he doesn't have any further internal injuries. I'm focusing on Nikola and what we can do to love and care of him the best ways possible so that I don't think too much about the guys who threw these cats out on the freeway. They must have no idea what pain they've caused to these animals and to those who love them. via Facebook
