Kate's last orchestra concert this evening each child got a unique award. Kate got the "Composer" award. She enjoys making up new songs. When playing a song for the teacher once apparently it sounded really, really sad. Mrs. Stoddard asked what the song was about that it sounded so sad. Sure enough, it was intentional. It was a song about Nikola and Pierre, the abused kittens we fostered briefly before they passed away. Clearly that experience had a huge impact on our girls. They've shared it many, many times, written stories about it, written songs (apparently) about it, and even born testimony about dealing with it. It was something that was hard when it happened, but I never would have guessed what far reaching effect it would have on our girls in a positive way, building them up and expanding them in many ways. via Facebook
