Crap. After ruling everything else out (which is a good thing) we've ended with a diagnosis of tmj. I was first diagnosed with tmj 15 years ago and have gone through periods so severe that I could barely open my mouth wide enough to fit the tip of my pinky. I would wake up in the middle of the night with my jaw locked shut. he said my symptoms are significant and, ruling all else out, it makes perfect sense. The problem is this: nobody covers tmj treatments. In fact, there isn't much to do to treat tmj. I will be on a "no chew" diet for two weeks, heat, message, ibuprofen. And I need to see a tmj physical therapist. Which even the doctor said is expensive. He said he rarely recommends it, for that reason, but feels it would give me the best hope of managing the pain. Tmj is a very common aspect of fibromyalgia; I think is really rude to have to deal with both at the same time. via Facebook
