“Happiness here and now consists in freely, lovingly, joyfully acknowledging God’s will for us—and doing it in all ways and all affairs big and small.” --Ezra Taft Benson This particularly clicked with me today. I know I am overwhelmed (in a positive way ) when I see and feel God's hand in my life and when I feel that I have been able to live according to what God would have me do. I know he wants me to be happy in my life, even when things are tough, but that he also allows me and those around me to make our own choices. When I choose to live contrary to the will of the Lord, as he lets me do, I lose that true happiness, perhaps for the sake of comfort, immediate satisfaction, indulgence of a whim, or any other number of reasons. I will never manage to live always and only by the will of the Lord, but as I am constantly reminded by moments or periods of pure joy it helps me be increasingly mindful of my choices. All of us have the power of personal agency, to make choices for ourselves. That means that sometimes I will be sorrowed or hurt by others even if I was capable of making perfect choices. Life is hard. Life is painful and difficult. But when I make good choices I have the opportunity to truly be happy. When I focus on the blessings around me and the loving choices of people in the world I have the opportunity to truly be happy. via Facebook
