Whoever has kept fevered little Sabrina in their prayers, thank you! She was scorching through the night, then just a bit warm this morning. She's felt great since then and has a totally normal temp! We'll keep a close eye on her temp through the night. Such a super high, short, crazy fever! Also evidence of why I almost always wait several days before checking with a doctor *eye roll* via Facebook

When your child's temperature sounds more like an am radio station than the far end of the fm dial it's probably okay to feel a bit of mama anxiety. Alarms set to not miss another dose of alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen. 104.1 is HOT. Poor baby! via Facebook

I love technology! Specifically, today, the fact that we get weekly updates from all three niblings who are serving LDS missions right now! Yesterday I read the email from a nephew in California, then today there were messages from another nephew -- this one not too far away here in Utah, and a niece serving in Japan! I remember the short hand-written notes from my brothers. This is a whole different thing! Maybe partly because these "kids" write more (at least, compared to what I remember), or because it's easier for them to write what they're thinking? I don't know. Don't really care either.... as long as we get to keep up with what these awesome kids are up to! I also LOVE being able to email back to two of the three. I am not awesome at doing it all the time, but every few weeks at least. I have a nearly impossible time getting a hand-written letter finished, in an envelope, stamped, addresses, AND in the mail box, but emails are great :P Hooray for life in the technology age!!!! (Yeah, yeah, I know all that about the importance of hand written stuff, REAL mail, etc., but there's also something to be said about a message ACTUALLY ARRIVING. I work within my abilities ;) ) via Facebook

Kitten season already :-/ They're adorable, but there are far too many for the homes available. PLEASE spay and neuter your pets!!!! It can be done VERY inexpensively. Beyond preventing homeless animals spay/neuter has many other benefits for your pets. There's no reason not to. via Facebook

February 19, 2015 at 03:12PM Session Details

One more note about my photography sessions -- I offer a variety of shoots. I have countless hours of education and experience that take your photography experience and result far beyond that of a friend with a smartphone! I particularly love doing shots that show personality and connection between people. (Examples of shoots available: http://ift.tt/1BrPN48) HOWEVER -- I also enjoy helping people who have not had the option to have a photo shoot done. A new baby, a graduating senior, a family shoot since it's been too long since the last one, etc. If you (or someone you know -- let them know I offer this!) have been unable to have photos taken that are important to you, please contact me. We can negotiate a price point or other exchange that will make it work for both of us. For those who are't truly suffering financial hardship, but like a great deal, please remember that the work I do is a reflection of large amounts of time and money spent and has real value. Creativity and education isn't something that is easy to attach a dollar amount to, and it's hard for some people to understand the value of those features. My prices will continue to increase over time to reflect the continual increase of experience and education. That's the price of getting quality! Investment in quality work and quality products is the true way to to get a "great deal".

I recently realized that it's getting to be "that time" of year! Yup, the time to start thinking about photos for graduating seniors. (Didn't the school year just start?!) I've been doing a lot of family shoots with young children (which I love!) and I'm looking forward to doing some sessions with some people who are better able to communicate and follow directions ;) I want a chance to work together on something that really speaks for the individual! My full senior session covers up to 2 hours in 2-3 locations, up to 3 outfits, and is particularly arranged to highlight the personality of the soon-to-be graduating senior. If the weather continues as it has we'll start seeing bits of color in the landscape within weeks from now! The busiest months of April and May are coming fast. We'll plan ahead for locations, things your teen can bring along that represent her or him, colors to feature and all that good stuff. I spend a couple of hours before each shoot even starts doing preparatory work. Then there's two hours of shooting in multiple locations (within Utah County), followed by hours of detailed editing of the best of the images. You'll end up with about 50-80 images to choose from . The sitting fee for all this is $175. Prints are available at a wonderful price (starting at only $0.60 each!) from a professional lab, shipped directly to you. A variety of print packages will be available for an added discount AND free shipping. Digital images are available at only $25 for ALL the images in low resolution for quality sharing online or for small prints for scrapbooking or printing later. Digital files that will print up to 8x10 and those that will print enlargements are also available, as are Individual digital files. If you have any questions feel free to message me. With $100 down you reserve the date for you so you're my top priority for you scheduled week. (The remainder of the sitting fee due by the day of the session.) I am limited to one shoot per week, so scheduling ahead is a good idea. It takes up to 2 weeks following the shoot to have the images ready, so if you want to plan ahead for graduation announcements, keep that in mind! via Facebook

“Happiness here and now consists in freely, lovingly, joyfully acknowledging God’s will for us—and doing it in all ways and all affairs big and small.” --Ezra Taft Benson This particularly clicked with me today. I know I am overwhelmed (in a positive way ) when I see and feel God's hand in my life and when I feel that I have been able to live according to what God would have me do. I know he wants me to be happy in my life, even when things are tough, but that he also allows me and those around me to make our own choices. When I choose to live contrary to the will of the Lord, as he lets me do, I lose that true happiness, perhaps for the sake of comfort, immediate satisfaction, indulgence of a whim, or any other number of reasons. I will never manage to live always and only by the will of the Lord, but as I am constantly reminded by moments or periods of pure joy it helps me be increasingly mindful of my choices. All of us have the power of personal agency, to make choices for ourselves. That means that sometimes I will be sorrowed or hurt by others even if I was capable of making perfect choices. Life is hard. Life is painful and difficult. But when I make good choices I have the opportunity to truly be happy. When I focus on the blessings around me and the loving choices of people in the world I have the opportunity to truly be happy. via Facebook

Lizzie and Sabrina were fake-arguing over a valentine. They were going to fake-punch each other. I'm afraid they wouldn't make it in a life of physical altercations. They managed to punch one another directly on the fist coming at them. A few knuckles were popped and much giggling ensued. It's like those movie shots of the bullets hitting each other, but with less coordination and awareness. via Facebook

My inner scholar has been stretching her brain lately. Between notes and slides available online from a Standford photography class and various Creative Live classes I've watched by various professionals (like, the super serious award winning type of professionals, not just mommy bloggers with purty pictures) I've got some serious hours of classes in my brain and have taken 13+ pages of notes so far of just the stuff I find particularly fascinating or necessary to understand. It's rather refreshing, really, to get my brain wrapped around something new and to learn the technical sides to a creative outlet. Hooray for having access to so much great informations! via Facebook

February 09, 2015 at 02:23PM I'm fed up of having to perform my disability

This is a very interesting article, with several points I've definitely ranted on myself. I have a disability placard for my car. Some days I have more energy than others. Some days I am more willing to use my limited energy for certain activities. Some days I am barely able to put any weight on my feet and legs. And those are issues that only have to do with walking. There are disabilities beyond the ability to walk distances comfortably. Because of the frequent leg/foot pain I often use a cane outside the home when walking an uncomfortable distance (which varies) or will be unsure of how far I will be walking. Then I learned that if I am going to require any other accommodations (using a motorized cart at the store, sitting when other people are doing something useful, needing to leave early from a gathering, etc.) I had better "perform" my disability. Usually when I have my cane it is because I need it, but sometimes I'm just so tired of "the look" that I just take my cane along whether I think I'll need it or not, just as an outward sign that there is an actual need. Never mind that sometimes my hands cannot handle the pressure of using the cane, it's unacceptable to not have a visible disability. What about this? What if we let people do what they need to do, we do what we need to do, and we quit making assumptions? We tend to know precious little about even acquaintances' privates lives, never mind strangers. Why assume we know what their needs are based on their appearance, including age, happiness, grocery choices, weight, etc. etc. etc. Realize that being limited in any way (the definition of a DIS-ABILITY) is not something anybody would do for fun. It also takes a great deal of work to deal with the inconveniences. Trust me, you wouldn't do it long term "for fun". Working full time with a normal amount of challenges would be much easier. Please consider these things the next time you see someone who doesn't "look" disabled.

I <3 Creative Live!!! This website is awesome for getting access to classes on all sorts of topics. I've spent hours and hours since starting in on it a few weeks ago learning more about photography -- lighting classes, specialty shoots, and all sorts of things to learn! I love discovering when I already know something, but even better I love learning new things. Going to physical classes, even if there was an affordable one I was interested in locally, isn't easy for me to do, so this is the perfect answer. I love learning these things, then getting to practice and improve them! via Facebook
