This afternoon my nephew was here for a bit -- he's awesome and 2 years old. He was petting one of the cats and doing pretty well. Unfortunately, he then squeezed the kitty's tail too hard and scared her. She flopped onto her back and batted his face with both front paws (claws in -- though later I discovered a spot on his face where it looks like the end of a claw did barely break skin :( ). Anyway, his daddy was outside swinging Big Sister on the swingset, so I gathered him up and took him to see in the mirror that he didn't have a scratch on his face because he was really upset. When his daddy came back in we walked back into the family room. As soon as he saw that the kitty was okay he calmed down instantly. Turns out he was not worried about himself, but worried that he had hurt the kitty! Such a sweet boy. <3 via Facebook

Interesting... Comcast sent us a thing saying our modem is now out-of-date and won't get us the best possible speeds, so would we please upgrade. So we sent in the thingy and our new one should be here today, or maybe tomorrow. The "interesting" (read: frustrating, stupid, wanna-kick-them-where-the-sun-don't-shine) thing is that all of a sudden our "old" modem isn't only not managing super ultra mega speeds they claim, it just keeps not working at all, as of last night. I wish I wasn't so cynical that I assume they're pulling some crap to push people to upgrade their modems. But when everything, including their site, says we're connected, but the modem won't talk to things, all of a sudden like for several hours at a time, and with their track history, it's easy to assume the skeeziest. Thankfully I am on now! Those candies won't crush themselves!!! via Facebook

I've voted for all sort of stuff for you all, and now I'm asking for turnabout -- Hospicesoft is something that Michael Southern has been directly involved in since the very beginning. Vote here for Hospicesoft to receive a grant that will help them continue to expand their product. The Hospicesoft product helps hospices nationwide keep track of all the business details, especially reporting required information in a quick and easy way so the hospice workers are able to spend their time and energy helping people who are dying and their families rather than spending all their time on paperwork. The product is a great one to support, as is the company -- a family centered company that truly works to improve life for their employees as well as their clients. Definitely worth three or four mouse clicks! (I did have to "allow" facebook to count my vote, but it only posted because I later asked it to.)

I love listening to LDS General Conference. It is a great semi-annual reset for my life. It helps me re-focus on how I am living my life, how I am treating others, and what my goals are. I has been a wonderful weekend. I have especially loved listening to several speakers give their sermons on their native languages of Cantonese, Spanish, and Portuguese. It really helps me better understand and feel the strength of this worldwide church. Allowing these individuals to share their messages in their own languages also helps them and us focus on their words rather than their ability with the English language! via Facebook
